Church Archaeology

Church Archaeology ASC has considerable experience in dealing with archaeological investigation and recording of ecclesiastical buildings and sites, and has an in-house specialist in osteology (analysis of human bones).

ASC offers prompt, friendly, expert help and advice in the following areas related to churches:

desk based study.
trial excavations (trenching, test-pitting) to assess the nature, extent and survival of buried remains.
excavation and recording where destruction of archaeological remains is unavoidable.
archaeological monitoring and recording (watching briefs) on internal and external works, e.g. drainage, extensions.
detailed building survey and interpretation.
monitoring and recording of restoration or conversion programmes.
