Historic Buildings
The archaeological investigation of historic buildings can come in many forms, from inspecting and analysing specific timbers or an architectural detail within a single building to surveying a certain type of building within a given area. Most historic buildings projects involve carrying out a photographic and drawn survey to provide a record of the structure prior to its demolition, conversion or refurbishment. This record will include an interpretation of the form and function of the building over time.
ASC's expertise includes the recording and analysis of farm, residential and industrial buildings, whether of brick, stone or timber framing. Our staff are also highly experienced in recording churches and monitoring restoration work to all types of buildings.
